View of Porto Pino bay and the Is Arenas Biancas dunes from the roof of Shambala Villa · Sant’Anna Arresi, South Sardinia
With the Porto Pino live webcam you can watch the sea and the sky of South Sardinia. The camera is mounted on the roof of Shambala Villa, on the hill behind Porto Pino, and points south-east.
The webcam shows Porto Pino bay with the Is Arenas Biancas dunes in the background. In the nearest part of the frame you can also see the car parks of the First Beach. The live stream is useful both to enjoy this corner of Sardinia and, if you are already in the area, to check conditions before heading to the sea: look at the water and the sky and read the wind data before choosing your beach for the day.

The winds of Porto Pino, South Sardinia
The shape of the coastline means that beaches only a few kilometres apart can have very different sea conditions at the same moment.
- Maestrale (mistral): from the north-west.
- Scirocco: from the south-east.
- Levante: from the east.
- Libeccio: from the south-west.
With the mistral, the First Beach of Porto Pino is generally more sheltered because the wind comes from behind it. The sea there can be calmer than at the Second Beach and the Is Arenas Biancas dunes, which are more exposed.
Porto Pinetto and Candiani, on the other side of the hill, face a different way: they are generally better protected from Levante and Scirocco and more exposed to the mistral and Libeccio. The Is Arenas Biancas area also tends to be more sheltered from Levante and Scirocco and more exposed to the mistral and Libeccio.
Porto Tramatzu and Tuerredda, protected by the surrounding hills, can offer calmer conditions on mistral days. It is not a guarantee: before deciding where to go, check the live stream together with the wind direction and strength and the local conditions. In South Sardinia a few kilometres are enough to find a very different sea.
Kitesurfing in Porto Pino: check wind and sea on the webcam
Porto Pino is also known among kitesurfers. With easterly and south-easterly winds, such as Levante and Scirocco, the First Beach can offer interesting conditions for experienced riders.
If you spot coloured kites on the sea in front of the First Beach in the live stream, they are probably kitesurfers. Kitesurfing takes place at sea, not in the lagoon: the lagoon is a natural habitat for pink flamingos and other birds.
The webcam and the wind data help you check conditions before you reach the beach, but they do not replace an assessment on the spot.
Discovering Porto Pino and the Is Arenas Biancas dunes
Porto Pino lies in the municipality of Sant’Anna Arresi, on the Sulcis coast of South Sardinia. It is known for its crystal-clear sea, its long pale-sand beach, its pine wood and the Is Arenas Biancas dunes.
The live webcam gives you a preview of the landscape and of the conditions in the area: an easy way to get to know Porto Pino before you arrive.
The Is Arenas Biancas dunes
The Is Arenas Biancas dunes are one of the most distinctive natural features of the Porto Pino coast: very pale sand and the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean.
The dune system is a fragile, protected environment. Please use the permitted access points and follow the signs on site, and do not walk on the restricted areas.
The beaches of Porto Pino
The First Beach is easy to reach, close to the centre of Porto Pino, and has several facilities. The Second Beach continues along the bay up to the Is Arenas Biancas dunes.
The sandy, gently sloping seabed is popular with families with children too. Conditions can change a lot with the wind, though: take a look at the webcam before you set off and always check the situation on the spot.
The pine wood of Porto Pino
The Aleppo pine gives the place its character and its name, Porto Pino. The pine wood runs along several stretches of the coast and is part of the local landscape.
The lagoon and the pink flamingos of Porto Pino
Behind the coast lies the Porto Pino system of lagoons, home to many bird species. Among the most characteristic sightings are pink flamingos, which can be seen at various times of the year.
The lagoons are part of the natural environment of the area: this does not mean the flamingos are visible in the webcam frame.
Things to do in Porto Pino
Besides the beach, the area offers snorkelling and diving, walking and mountain-bike trails, kitesurfing and windsurfing on the right days, and boat trips along the coast of South Sardinia.
The location also puts the other beaches and villages of the Sulcis and the Teulada area within easy reach.
Where to stay in Porto Pino
The webcam you are watching is on the roof of Shambala Villa. The villa stands on the hill behind Porto Pino and has four independent apartments, with a shared pool and views over the surrounding countryside.
From the villa, the First Beach, the Second Beach and the Is Arenas Biancas dunes are a few minutes away by car.
